I was honoured to participate in a two-day multi-stakeholder workshop in Kampala in November 2023, organized by DW Akademie and Media Challenge Initiative (MCI). The workshop brought together journalists, civil society members, digital rights experts, media influencers, and representatives from Uganda’s Personal Data Protection Office and National Information Technology Authority—Uganda. We collaborated to adapt a set of recommendations aimed at improving social media discourse in Uganda, focusing on four key pillars: content moderation, transparency, the digital divide, and oversight & accountability .
As a contributor, I brought insights from my work in internet governance, digital inclusion, and policy advisory—both via the Internet Society Uganda Chapter and as a practitioner embedding digital equity in public systems. I helped refine recommendations around bridging the digital divide and oversight mechanisms, drawing on my experience in community training and policy engagement. I am proud to see my contributions reflected in the formal recommendations, which are now publicly available for download .
This collaborative effort underscores my commitment to promoting safe, inclusive, and objective digital spaces in Uganda, and aligns closely with my broader mission to amplify underrepresented voices through informed, rights-based digital policy.
